AB  - This study compared 2-dimensional vs real-time 3-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with mitral periprosthetic leaks. Benefits of real-time 3-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography include the accuracy and reliability with which it records measurements of chamber size and function, and its improved ability to delineate valvular and congenital abnormalities.
