AB Results from the 1-year Surgical Therapy And Medications Potentially Eradicate Diabetes Efficiently trial [STAMPEDE; NCT00432809], comparing bariatric surgery with intensive medical therapy (IMT) for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in patients with moderate obesity, concluded that bariatric surgery is more effective than IMT.
