Summary
Obesity has a multitude of adverse effects on the lungs, many of which remain poorly understood, according to speakers at a session that was devoted to various aspects of the problem. Virtually all of the knowledge relates to obesity's effect on pulmonary function. Though structural effects are widely suspected, scant evidence exists to support the suspicion.
