The authors wrote, \u201cIt is generally recommended that people treated with insulin perform self-monitoring at least 3 times per day; the frequency of self-monitoring for individuals who are not treated with insulin should be individualized to each person\u0027s treatment regimen and level of control.\u201d\u003C\/p\u003E\n         \u003Cp id=\u0022p-8\u0022\u003EThe guideline also includes information on medications that specifically target postmeal glucose levels. The authors cite \u201ctraditional\u201d therapies including the alpha-glucosidase inhibitors, glinides, rapid-acting insulin analogs, biphasic (premixed) insulins, and human regular insulin.\u003C\/p\u003E\n         \u003Cp id=\u0022p-9\u0022\u003EThey also cite new classes of therapies for the management of postmeal plasma glucose in diabetics, including amylin analogs, GLP-1 derivatives, and DPP-4 inhibitors.
