Within a year, one in eight patients will die, have a heart attack or stroke, or be hospitalized for a complication of vascular obstruction.\u003C\/p\u003E\n         \u003Cp id=\u0022p-4\u0022\u003EThe risk is even greater for patients with widespread disease burden.\u003C\/p\u003E\n         \u003Cp id=\u0022p-5\u0022\u003EAt one year follow-up, investigators observed an overall MACE rate of 13%; noting that patients with peripheral arterial disease were at substantially higher risk, experiencing a one year MACE rate of 22%. In addition there was an incremental increase in risk in those with widespread atherothrombotic disease.
