Perioperative Aspirin or Clonidine Fails to Reduce AKI

Summary

Perioperative treatment of patients undergoing noncardiac surgery with aspirin did not reduce the risk of acute kidney injury compared with placebo, nor did the use of clonidine compared with placebo. This article presents data from the Perioperative Ischemic Evaluation-2 Trial substudy [POISE-2].
