Structured Education and Appropriate Pharmacologic Intervention in a Day Clinic Improves Glycemic Control in Adult Patients with Diabetes

Summary

Adult diabetic patients who receive structured education in addition to appropriate pharmacologic intervention have significant and lasting improvements in glycemic control compared with patients who receive usual care. This article presents the results of a study designed to assess the efficacy of a combined structured approach in a diabetes day clinic compared with periodic visits to a typical outpatient clinic.
