Anesthesia in the severely obese presents unique challenges, including some that are not well understood. This article addresses challenges in anesthesia for obese gynecologic and obstetric patients, as well as the use of antithrombotics and prophylactic antibiotics in patients with obesity, to provide guidance on decision making in these complex cases.
