Summary

The benefits of insulin pump therapy in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) include flexibility, more physiologic and reproducible results and more predictable delivery of insulin. This article discusses the current state of insulin pump therapy in T2DM, information about pumps that are used in insulin pump therapy, use of combination infusions in the treatment of type 1 diabetes, as well as the safety and efficacy of low glucose (threshold) suspend technology.
