AB Many patients with diabetes are faced with the challenge that their disease requires constant awareness and monitoring of blood glucose levels, with the fear of entering hypoglycemia. This article discusses artificial pancreas therapy, the basic science behind glucagon in the artificial pancreas system, the use of mobile phones to support the practice of medicine, as well as several emerging types of sensors for glucose monitoring
