The Stenting and Aggressive Medical Management for Preventing Recurrent Stroke in Intracranial Arterial Stenosis trial [SAMMPRIS; NCT00576693] found that treatment with aggressive medical management (AMM) was superior to AMM plus percutaneous transluminal angioplasty and stenting [Chimowitz MI et al.
