Summary

Over the past few decades, attempts have been made to develop markers that correlate with the behavior of pituitary adenomas to identify lesions with an increased potential for malignancy (metastasis, invasion, or recurrence following treatment) [Zada G et al. J Neurosurg 2011]. This article discusses the role of surgery in the treatment of agressive/invasive pituitary adenomas.
