Individuals with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are twice as likely to have cardiovascular disease (CVD) than individuals with normal kidney function, with 40% also being diagnosed with coronary artery disease and/or congestive heart failure. CVD progresses at twice the rate in those with CKD as in those without CKD.
