Many patients develop resistant hypertension, which is characterized by an inability to achieve BP targets despite multiple drug therapies at the highest tolerated dose. Patients with chronic uncontrolled hypertension are at high risk for major cardiovascular events, including early death, strokes, and renal disease. This article discusses 2 late-breaking clinical trials evaluated novel nonpharmacologic options for the treatment of resistant hypertension.
