AB  - Persons with psychiatric disorders often have a myriad of comorbid medical conditions that can add to risk for premature morbidity and mortality. Important conditions that increase risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes include overweightness and obesity, dyslipidemia, hypertension, hyperglycemia, and smoking, all often interrelated by insulin resistance.
