Summary

The development of leadless and subcutaneous implantable cardiac defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy may improve safety of these therapies by utilizing less invasive procedures and reducing infection rates. In addition, wearable cardiac defibrillators can provide protection for certain patient populations, including those who are awaiting implantation or require implantable cardiac defibrillator removal.
