No Difference in Polyethylene Wear Using Metal or Ceramic Femoral Heads

Summary

This randomized trial was designed to investigate how femoral head material affects a conventional polyethylene socket in patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty. Patients received either a metal or a delta ceramic femoral head. There was no significant difference in creep or wear of the polyethylene socket using either head type.
