Summary
The morbidity and mortality associated with acute coronary syndromes have been reduced substantially through advances in drug and interventional treatment developed over the past 25 years. The collaboration of the academic research organizations that produced these advances is an important legacy that is leading to innovative research strategies using informatics and new technologies.
