AB As data increase on the benefits of transcatheter aortic valve replacement, several issues remain to be addressed including the choice of anesthesia (local or general), whether or not cerebral embolic protection during the procedure is beneficial, and the comparative benefits of self-expanding and balloon-expandable transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
