Summary
Mitral regurgitation, depending on severity and symptoms, may require treatment. Current options include the repair and replacement of the mitral valve. There is a trend of favoring transcatheter approaches, particularly in high-risk patients with comorbidities. In addition, emerging mitral valve prosthetics are in development and may provide additional options for these patients.
