Summary
There may be a role for deferred stent placement in selected patients with STEMI and a high thrombus burden to reduce the risk of microvascular obstruction or no-reflow, according to data from the DEFER-STEMI, MIMI, and OTOCLAV trials. However, larger, multicenter, prospective studies are required to confirm these findings.
