AB Acute ischemic stroke is the leading cause of disability and the third-most common cause of death in the developed world. Time to treatment is crucial. Intravenous administration of tissue plasminogen activator within 3 hours of stroke is very effective. Developments in mechanical thrombectomy have made it an appealing treatment option.
