The use of stairs was intensive during the first 3 months and less intensive the following 3 months. Blood analyses linked the physical activity intervention with a significant decrease in plasma PCSK9 (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9) level at 3 months. PCSK9 could be seen as a novel marker of lifestyle interventions.
