FREE SPEECH FOR THE UNION MEMBER: PRIVATE VS. PUBLIC SECTOR

Abstract

The article traces free speech protection for union members through legislation and precedents in the private sector. The author concludes that unionized public employees have less protection when they speak out on matters concerning their union than do union members in private industry. He advocates extending protection to the public sector via legislation.
